Geographic Location

Haian County is located in the Yangtze Delta, it boards the Yellow Sea in the east, closes the Yangtze river in the south, facing the international metropolis----shanghai across the Yangtze River. It belongs to Shanghai Economic Zone; it is one of the earliest opening countries in the 14 national coastal opening cities. The county covers 1,108km² and the population are 980,000 persons.

The land area is 117,000 hectares including 93,000 hectares land, 24000 hectares water regions and 56,000 hectares Cultivatable land. Haian boards the Yellow Sea in the east, the coastal line is 8.6 Kilometers, the sea region area 30,000 hectares, the surrounded beach-land is 2,660 hectares, un-surrounded beach-land 3,330 hectares.

Natural Resources

Haian belongs to the north sub-tropical zone. The climate is gentle, the four seasons are obvious, the rain water is plentiful, the sunshine is enough, the annual average temperature is 14.5¡ãC , the annual average precipitation is 1,025 millimeters, the average relative moisture is 80%, the annual average no-frost period are 200 days.

Transportation

Railway: Xinchang railway and Ningqi railway meet at Haian suburb, haian Railway Station has integrated the passenger station, cargo station, maintenance team and reorganization office, and it is the biggest second grade reorganization station in east Jiangsu.

Highway: National highway 204, national highway 328 and the Provincial Road 202 go across the whole Haian, the Coastal Expressway under construction and the planned haili expressway interest in haian. It will take only 1.5 hours to drive Shanghai from Haian when the Sutong Bridge connecting Shanghai and the coastal expressways.

Aviation: There are flights from the nearby airport, Nantong Airport to Beijing, Guangzhou, and Xiamen, etc.

Marine transportation: Haian Town is 70 Kilometers away from Nangton port---one of the top 10 national ports, there are direct container liners from the port to Japan, Korea, Hongkong, etc. the big oriental Yangkou Port is only 30km² away from Haian. The inland lines join with Shanghai port; the export cargos can be transshipped to the ports all over the world.

Machinery and Electronic Industry: the ability of foundry, forging, machinery processing ranks top in Jiangsu Province, the products range from forging press, cutting, rolling machine tool, powder metallurgy, electric transformer, elevator electrical appliance, optic-electricity coder, building materials machinery, textile machinery, woodworking machinery, etc. The output and sales of 195 series single cylinder crank shaft rank the top position in Asia. The output and sales of transformers and the powder metallurgy is listed No.5 in the whole China.

Textiles and Silk industry

It is the traditional supporting industry of Haian. The categories ranging from cotton Spinning, chemical fiber, and color thread weaving, and dyeing and printing are well developed. The production capacity of cotton spinning is over 400,000 spindles; the quality is in the leading position in China. Haian polyamide fiber is famous all over China. The coloring weaving industry is in the top 4 positions in whole China. There are over 60000 sets shuttleless looms. The export amount ranks the top in this industry in whole china.

Chemical Industry          

Haian is the important production base of chemical industry assistance substance in Jiangsu province. The annual output of the non-ion surfactants is 10,000 tons. The annual capacity of diphenylamine is 20,000 tons; the output of continuation method diphenylamine ranks the world top 2 and Asia No.1. The exclusive producer is in Haian.
